Slimes are green cubes that move by hopping. There are 3 sizes: big, medium, and small. Upon death, Big and Medium Slimes split into the next smaller size slime, and the small slimes drop Slimeballs which can be used to make Sticky Pistons and Magma Cream when killed. Small slimes will do no damage to the player, though the Big and Medium slimes will do some damage more damage for larger slimes. Health of a slime is also dependent on its size.
When killed, a Big slime splits into about 4 Medium slimes, and each Medium slime splits into 4 small slimes. This allows a player to get slimeballs on average for each Big Slime. Slimes will only spawn between bedrock and the 16th layer of the Overworld. This makes slimes one of the rarest mobs in the game.
